All week long I anticipate Fridays. I write TGIF on my facebook page every Friday. I don’t know why, but I think it is because of the super opportunity to wear jeans to work. Jeans give me a sense of ease, relaxed, balanced and ready to go anywhere or do anything. I never really understood the power jeans had over me until about a year ago when I was headed to the airport. We were running late from the hotel and there was no time to dress nicely – so I slid on a pair of jeans and we took off. I come from a background of dressing for the airport. I am not exactly sure why my mother believes in that so much – it is not as if a casting agent is going to discover a rising star at, say, the Cleveland airport. I am not sure where this philosophy comes from. But it is there. Ingrained in my head like the need to wear a bra in public. Yes, it is that crucial to dress for the airport. But not this time.

As an elementary principal, I made little jean passes and gave them out to teachers for outstanding things – lesson, kindness, extra duties, etc. You would have thought they were solid gold bars.
I am sure your teachers loved those! What a fun thing to give them! We love positive rewards. 🙂
I love Fridays for the same reason…jeans and spirit wear! So much fun to dress like my students for the day. Fridays just feel so much more relaxed. I also love it because I get to relax and sleep in for the next two days. 🙂
I agree 100%! I am not quite ready to get back to the new school year though. Summer is always so relaxing! 🙂
